OTT Navigator Setup Guide: From Installation to First Playback
Use this setup workflow to move from an installed OTT Navigator app to a working playlist, guide data, and tested playback without changing advanced settings before the basics are confirmed.

What you need before starting
OTT Navigator is a player, not a source of streaming content. The current app listing says you provide your own IPTV portal or playlist credentials. It supports M3U/M3U8 playlists and Xtream Codes, while the exact information you receive from a provider determines which setup path you should use.
| What you received | Start with | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Complete M3U/M3U8 URL | M3U playlist workflow | That it should be split into username/password fields. |
| M3U playlist file | Playlist-file workflow | That local file access will behave identically on every Android TV device. |
| Server + username + password | Check Xtream Codes workflow | That any server URL is automatically an M3U URL. |
The setup order: source → playlist → EPG → playback
Treat setup as a sequence of separate layers. First make sure OTT Navigator can reach and process the source. Then confirm the channel library, configure guide data, and only after that diagnose playback or customize the viewing experience.
Correct URL, file, or provider credentials.
Channels and categories actually load.
Guide source processes and channels match.
Test streams before changing advanced settings.
Step 1: Add the correct source
Match the input method to the information you actually received. For an M3U URL, use the complete URL. For Xtream Codes, use the provider's server, username, and password in the corresponding provider workflow. The official FAQ notes that a URL containing a get.phppattern with username, password, and M3U parameters is an indication of an Xtream-style M3U template.
Avoid changing the URL, removing parameters, or manually rewriting credentials unless the provider's documentation tells you to. Small changes can turn a valid playlist request into a different or invalid request.
Step 2: Let the playlist finish loading
After saving the source, confirm that the channel library actually populates. Do not move directly into advanced playback settings just because the first screen takes time to load.
Proceed to EPG and playback tests.
Check source URL, credentials, provider response, and playlist format.
Test several categories/channels before changing player settings.

Step 3: Configure EPG after the playlist works
EPG is a separate diagnostic layer. OTT Navigator's official FAQ recommends checking EPG through Settings → EPG → Reload and watching how many sources are processed and what result each source returns.
If the provider has an EPG source but did not include it in the playlist, the FAQ recommends adding it through Settings → Provider → your provider → Parameters → EPG. Provider-level matching can use both channel names and tvg-id.
Step 4: Test one live channel
Choose a channel you know should be available and test playback before reorganizing the entire library. If one channel fails, test a second or third. This helps distinguish a channel-specific provider issue from an app-wide configuration problem.
| Result | Interpretation | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Several channels play | Basic source and playback path is working. | Investigate only channels that fail. |
| No channels play | Could be provider, network, stream, or playback configuration. | Use the troubleshooting layer before changing many settings. |
| Video plays but EPG is empty | Playback works; EPG is a separate issue. | Follow the EPG guide and mapping checks. |
Step 5: Configure the experience
Once the source, guide, and playback are confirmed, then adjust favorites, categories, subtitles, audio tracks, external-player behavior, and other preferences. OTT Navigator's current listing documents favorites, category filtering, multilingual audio/subtitles, search, and continue-watching features.
The principle is simple: change one layer at a time. If playback breaks immediately after changing a setting, you have a much clearer path to identifying the change responsible.
Choose the setup path by the source you received
The setup process changes slightly depending on whether your provider gave you a playlist URL, a file, or separate Xtream-style credentials. The underlying order stays the same: establish the source, load channels, add guide data, then test playback.
| What you received | Start here | Next guide |
|---|---|---|
| M3U/M3U8 URL | Add the URL and verify that channels load. | M3U URL guide |
| M3U file | Import the file where the device permits local access. | M3U playlist guide |
| Server + username + password | Use the supported Xtream-style provider workflow. | Xtream Codes guide |
| EPG URL separately | Configure it after the playlist works. | EPG guide |
Setup troubleshooting by symptom
| Symptom | Start here | Avoid doing first |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot add playlist | Verify the exact source type and URL/credentials. | Changing playback engines. |
| Playlist loads, no EPG | Reload EPG and inspect source/mapping. | Reinstalling the app immediately. |
| EPG time is wrong | Check device timezone. | Changing every channel manually. |
| Streams buffer or fail | Test multiple channels and isolate source/network/playback. | Assuming EPG settings caused a playback failure. |
